can be used for universal applications in all industries. Due to the modular design principle,
the workload control of project engineering, the design and manufacturing costs of
travelling units are minimized. The excellent form and positional tolerance of the travelling
wheel and housing facilitate assembly, reducing installation and alignment work.

1.2 Travel wheel materials
40Cr
DRS112~DRS200 using 40Cr hot-rolled round steel for quenching
and tempering treatment.
DRS250~DRS500 using 40Cr forgings and tempering treatment.
The material has high tensile strength, with overall quenching and
surface quenching treatment HB300-380. The walking wheel has a
guiding function. If wheel flange guidance is used, the minimum
gap between the inner surface of the wheel flange and the edge of
the track can be as small as 1mm. The same gap can also be
obtained by arranging guide wheels. If there is an expected
increase in wear, the walking wheel tread or guide wheel rim can be
hardened to HRC56 ± 2 (HB530) without slipping. The hardening of
the walking wheel is only to reduce wear.
polyurethane
Polyurethane is a synthetic rubber material that has better
resistance characteristics compared to other synthetic rubbers.
Compared with metal materials, polyurethane walking wheels have
a significantly high coefficient of friction, making them suitable for
applications with high dynamic response. It has excellent shock
absorption characteristics, so the walking noise can be minimized.
Please note that compared to metal walking wheels, the
load-bearing capacity of polyurethane walking wheels will be
greatly weakened. Due to the low ground contact pressure, walking
wheels made of polyurethane material are particularly suitable for
walking on concrete surfaces; Due to the high coefficient of friction
between the tread of the walking wheel and the contact material,
polyurethane walking wheels are also suitable for friction driven
applications with acceleration up to 1.5m/s2. In addition,
polyurethane materials are suitable for use at temperatures up to
100 degrees Celsius.
Hardening of wheels
When the running wheels are severely worn during operation (such
as when a large amount of iron filings are found on the track edge),
the tread and rim of the metal running wheels can be hardened (to
a depth of 2-3mm), and the running wheels of DRS112~DRS200
will not have rim damage markings. The hardness value reaches
HRC56 ± 2 (HB530).4

The aluminium wheel block housings are provided with a
weather-resistant powder coating in RAL7001 (silver grey) with a
minimum thickness of 90μm before leaving the factory.
DRS250~DRS500
Primer coat: Single coat of silver grey paint, coat thickness approx.
40μm Finish coat: Silver grey RAL7001, 50% shine, approx. 50μm.
Special paint
DRS112~DRS200
If a non-standard colour is requested (standard RAL7001, silver
grey), the pow-der-coated wheel block is painted over.
DRS250~DRS500
The wheel block housing can be painted in a non-standard colour
(standard RAL7001, silver grey).
Acid-resistant paint
finish, outer surfaces
DRS112~DRS200
The surfaces of wheel blocks with a powder-coated finish may be
used in environ-ments with acid vapours without any treatment.
The gap between the two housing parts and the cover is sealed
with an acid-proof varnish. Wheel blocks must also be fitted with
ball bearings featuring double lip seals.
DRS250~DRS500
Wheel blocks can be supplied with an acid protection paint finish for
applications in environments with acid vapours.5
Overview
 
·Flange guide arrangement
The permissible horizontal force on flange-guided wheel blocks must not exceed 20% of
the actual wheel load.
·Wheel blocks with roller guide arrangement
The permissible horizontal force on wheel blocks fitted with a roller guide arrangement
must not exceed 15 % of the actual wheel load. For DRS112~DRS200 with travel wheel
variant E, the value must be limited to 12%.
Exception: DRS200 with top connection, the permissible horizontal force must be limited
to 10% of the actual wheel load. If higher horizontal loads are to be expected, the roller
guide arrangement can be fitted to the steel superstructure, however, not to the wheel
block.
·Flange guide arrangement Wheel blocks with roller guide arrangement, fitted to
the customer's superstructure
The guide roller arrangement as a solo part may transmit 20 % of the permissible wheel
load when fitted to the customer's superstructure.
